Russell Kirk's Southern Sensibilities: A Celebration

. .the South—alone among the civilized communities of the nineteenth century—had hardihood sufficient for an appeal to arms against the iron new order which, a vague instinct whispered to Southerners, was inimical to the sort of humanity they knew.” —Russell Kirk, The Conservative Mind
Certainly those south of the Mason-Dixon line expect little by way of understanding from non-natives, especially from someone born and raised just outside of Detroit, that most Northern of cities. But God loves irony, and He chose to place there one of the South’s strongest defenders. Indeed, perhaps no Northerner has been more sympathetic to the Southern cause this century than has the late Russell Kirk.
Author of nearly 30 books and hundreds of articles before his untimely death in May, Kirk more than anyone else provided the philosophical underpinnings of the postwar conservative renascence. An original contributor to National Review, Kirk also founded Modern Age and edited The University Bookman for over 30 years. Whittaker Chambers labeled his The Conservative Mind, released in 1953, the most important book of the twentieth century, and throughout Kirk’s writings ran a thread of Southern sympathy and sensibility that did much to shore up Southern conservatism over the past four decades.

39.1%: CBO Says U.S. Has Highest Top Statutory Corporate Tax Rate in G20

Via Billy

The United States has the highest top statutory corporate tax rate—39.1%--of any nation in the G20, according to a study released Wednesday by the Congressional Budget Office.

That rate is nearly twice as high as the 20-percent rate in Russia, which, along with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, has the lowest statutory corporate tax rate in the G20.

The U.S. won the top spot on the statutory-corporate-tax-rate list after Japan and Germany, which formerly ranked first and second, cut their rates.

“The United States made no change in federal corporate tax rates between 2003 and 2012,” said the CBO, “and by 2012, it had the highest top statutory rate in the G20.”

How Are All These Intel Leaks Happening? Look At One Of The Last Things Obama Did Before Leaving Office

Via Billy

Former President Barack Obama made a last-minute change to the way wiretapped intelligence is shared Jan. 12, which may have contributed to the proliferation of leaks plaguing the Trump administration.

Obama changed the way National Security Agency intelligence is shared 8 days before leaving office, which allows globally intercepted communications to be disseminated across the entire intelligence community.

The change was part of a post-9/11 push by the executive branch to increase intelligence sharing, to ensure that NSA analysts do not miss critically important information. The change is “simply widening the aperture for a larger number of analysts, who will be bound by the existing rules,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said at the time.

Obama administration officials also scrambled to spread classified intelligence related to Russian meddling in the 2016 election to as many people within the U.S. government as possible.

The number of people illegally crossing the U.S. southern border has dropped 40 percent in President Trump’s first full month in office, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said Wednesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol reported that the number of illegal border crossings dropped from 31,578 to 18,762 persons. Kelly said border agents usually see a 10 to 20 percent increase in illegal immigrant apprehensions from January to February.

“The drop in apprehensions shows a marked change in trends,” Kelly said. “Since the administration’s implementation of executive orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years.”

Understanding Jihad

Understanding Jihad

Jihad is one of the foundational doctrines of Islam—not “Radical Islam” or “Radical Islamic Terrorism,” just Islam. President Recip Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey told us the simple truth, when he said, “Islam is Islam.” There are many “moderate” (secular and cultural) Muslims, but there is no “moderate” Islam that is not considered heretical by mainstream Sunni and Shia clerics and scholars.

Jihad is second only to the Shahada, the testimony of Muslim faith in Islamic doctrine: “La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah,” rendered in English as “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Prophet (or Messenger) of Allah.” Jihad constitutes a whopping 31 percent of the combined sacred texts of the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad found in the Hadith (traditions) and Sira (biography) of Muhammad.

Scots last voted on independence in 2014, when 55 percent voted to stay in the U.K. A poll released Thursday shows more Scots are coming around to the idea of independence. A slim majority, 51 percent, still wants to remain in the U.K.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is open to holding a second independence referendum as early as 2018.

Sturgeon said a vote is “common sense” considering the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union within the next few years. Scots overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU during the Brexit referendum last June.

In Search of the Super Race: The Six-Percent Solution

U.S. International Mathematical Olympiad team that in 2016 took the world title: members Ankan Bhattacharya, Allen Liu, Ashwin Sah, Michael Kural, Yuan Yao, Junyao Peng, and coach Po-Shen Loh

I have gotten many hundreds of emails–OK, three emails, but I am rounding up–asking me whether there is a super-race. There are different views on this matter, discussion being carried on with the manners of a hockey match. For people who have better things to do than study abnormal psychology, the players are  briefly as follows: Something called the Alt-Right that believes the white race to be superior and wants to rid the country of of encroaching dark scum. The Human Biodiversity movement, HBD, more scientific and less surly but picking whites while conceding that yellow are smarter.  Finally IQists, who believe that IQ is a reliable measure of genetic intelligence.

They too put yellows as more intelligent.

Burger-flipping robot replaces humans on first day at work

A burger-flipping robot has just completed its first day on the job at a restaurant in California, replacing humans at the grill.

Flippy has mastered the art of cooking the perfect burger and has just started work at CaliBurger, a fast-food chain.

The robotic kitchen assistant, which its makers say can be installed in just five minutes, is the brainchild of Miso Robotics.

“Much like self-driving vehicles, our system continuously learns from its experiences to improve over time,” said David Zito, chief executive officer of Miso Robotics.

Democrats' Russia obsession overshadows fact that Trump's America is looking up

The Russians are coming, didn’t you hear!? The likes of “The New York Times” and the “Washington Post” are now filled with half-baked and half-thought out articles decrying new revelations of the Kremlin creeping closer.

The Russian ambassador spoke to Jeff Sessions! Unfortunately the Times left out evidence that one of his accusers, Claire McCaskill, did the same. Actually, just about everyone met with the Russian ambassador. It’s gotten so formulaic and tired that even The Young Turks referred to it as "self-proclaimed legal experts rashly opin(ing.)"

Every week now, the American people are treated to the same cycle: dramatic assumptions about the White House’s ties to Russia, then a slow and often obvious walk-back.

NC: 'Immigrant Privilege' Drives Child Rape Epidemic

Via John

Before breathing a sigh of relief that, unlike Western Europe, we don't have Muslim rapists pouring into our country, recall that we have Mexican rapists pouring into our country.

Almost all peasant cultures are brimming with rapists, pederasts and child abusers. Latin America just happens to be the peasant culture closest to the United States, while the Muslims are closest to Europe.

According to North Carolinians for Immigration Reform and Enforcement, immigrants commit hundreds of sex crimes against children in North Carolina every month -- 350 in the month of April 2014, 299 in May, and more than 400 in August and September. More than 90 percent of the perpetrators are Hispanic.

Trump set to send B-52 NUCLEAR BOMBERS to South Korea after North fires missiles at Japan and US warns of ‘overwhelming’ response

Via Iver

Kim Jong-un has stressed ‘a need for preparation for a fight’

DONALD Trump is reportedly planning to send nuclear bombers to the Korean peninsula as tensions in the region reach breaking point.

North Korea and the US have been teetering on the brink of war for months after Kim Jong-un carried out a series of controversial missile launches.

Earlier this week, trigger-happy Kim pushed his luck once more when he fired off four ballistic missiles into the seas near Japan.

Now US military chiefs are reportedly planning to fly in B-1 and B-52 bombers – built to carry nuclear bombs – to show America has had enough, according to the Korea Times.

The campaign by the Left to permanently obstruct Trump shows how desperate they're getting

Via Billy

If Trump stays on the principles he laid out before Congress, more of his agenda will be enacted and our country will be better off. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

The oppose-it-all, oppose-it-now, oppose-it-forever campaign of the Left is getting more and more desperate as reality sets in. This month, the balance of President Trump's Cabinet will be confirmed, Judge Neil Gorsuch will continue on his smooth path to Senate confirmation, and voting on the big ticket items on the White House's conservative reform agenda will commence. This means that we should all expect more hyperventilating from the liberal media about meetings with the Russian ambassador, more anti-free speech outbursts at liberal universities, more juvenile calls for the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and maybe even an appearance by the community organizer-in-chief himself, President Barack Obama.

This destructive strategy of permanent obstruction is all that remains of the shrinking liberal ideology in America.
